The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on Friday to the World Meals Programme (WFP) for its efforts to fight starvation and enhance circumstances for peace in battle areas, the Nobel committee stated.
The WFP was honoured for “its efforts to fight starvation, for its contribution to bettering circumstances for peace in conflict-affected areas and for performing as a driving power in efforts to forestall using starvation as a weapon of battle and battle,” it stated.
