Congress president Sonia Gandhi condoled the loss of life of celebrated playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam and hailed him because the “singing moon” who shed his radiance over the nation.
The versatile singer, actor and music composer was laid to relaxation at his farm home close to Chennai on Saturday with a 24-gun salute by the Tamil Nadu Police.
In a letter to his son SPB Charan, Sonia Gandhi stated she was deeply saddened by the loss of life of SP Balasubrahmanyam, “who so bravely fought the merciless COVID-19 virus for over six weeks earlier than succumbing to it”.
Sonia Gandhi stated Mr Balasubrahmanyam was a shining image of India’s wealthy musical and linguistic tradition, singing with equal melodious and emotional energy in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
He introduced pleasure and solace to tens of millions of followers, and the inventive and cultural world is far poorer and darker for his loss, the Congress chief stated.
“He was certainly the Paadum Nila — the Singing Moon — who shed his particular radiance over our nation,” she stated within the letter.
SP Balasubrahmanyam, who held sway over tens of millions of followers along with his golden voice, rendering a report 40,000 plus songs over 5 many years, died on Friday at a hospital in Chennai, plunging music lovers in grief.
