A minimum of 9 households had been evacuated from a 20-year-old constructing, after it developed cracks and tilted in Khopat space of Maharashtra’s Thane metropolis, a civic official stated on Friday.

The civic authorities have additionally emptied two chawls (ghettos) adjoining Sai Anand Flats, which developed cracks and tilted late on Thursday night time, stated Santosh Kadam, chief of the Regional Catastrophe Administration Cell of the Thane Municipal Company.

Native firemen and police personnel rushed to the scene for the evacuation, the official stated.

A minimum of 9 flats within the constructing have been sealed and the residents had been shifted to a civic college close by, he stated.

As a precautionary measure, residents of Salunke Chawl and Bhoir Chawl have additionally been evacuated and shifted to the close by civic college, the officer stated.
