Jammu:

A 65-year-old lady was killed and one other critically injured on Wednesday in heavy shelling by Pakistan Military on ahead areas alongside the Line of Management (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police stated.

The shelling from throughout the border in Balakote and Mendhar sectors began round 2 am, drawing robust retaliation by the Indian military, a police officer stated.

He stated two ladies, Resham Bi and Hakam Bi, had been critically injured within the Pakistani shelling at village Lanjote and had been evacuated to hospital.

Nonetheless, Resham Bi later succumbed to her accidents whereas Hakam bi was referred to Jammu hospital for specialised therapy, he stated.

A defence spokesperson stated Pakistan initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars at round 2 am.

The casualties suffered by Pakistan within the retaliatory motion was not identified instantly, he stated.
