An assistant sub-inspector of Delhi Visitors Police died in an accident whereas on responsibility in north Delhi’s Burari, police stated on Thursday.

The policeman has been recognized as Radhey Shyam (49). He was posted at Burari visitors circle, they stated.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night.

“The assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was on responsibility close to ITI centre, Dhirpur, Ring Highway. Round four.15 pm, he stopped a Tata 407 truck and requested the driving force to come back on the aspect. In the meantime, one Tata 909 truck got here from behind and hit the Tata 407 automobile which ran over the ASI,” a senior police officer stated.

Mr Shyam was rushed to hospital the place he was declared introduced lifeless, the officer stated.

The accused driver, recognized as Deepak Shukla, a resident of Ghonda in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested, police stated.

The ASI used to dwell along with his household in north west Delhi’s Rohini. He’s survived by his spouse, son and a daughter.

Earlier in July, ACP Sanket Kaushik of Delhi Police’s visitors unit died in an accident whereas on responsibility close to Rajokri flyover.
