A farmer was killed by a tiger in Nagbhid tehsil of Chandrapur district on Saturday, an official mentioned.

Maroti Uikey (36), a resident of Sonuli village, ventured into the forest from fields close by when he was killed by a tiger, he mentioned.

“It occurred in compartment no 78 in Mangrul beat of Nagbhid Forest Vary. An preliminary compensation of Rs 25,000 has been given to the household,” mentioned S V Ramarao, Chief Conservator of Forest.

That is the 17th loss of life in tiger assaults within the district this 12 months, officers mentioned.
