Dehradun:

A 22-year-old man drowned after slipping into the Tune river in Dehradun whereas making an attempt to take a selfie, police stated on Monday.

Shubham slipped and fell into the river whereas he was making an attempt to take a selfie in the course of the immersion of Lord Ganesha’s idol on Sunday, Circle Officer Nehru Colony Pallavi Tyagi stated.

He was swept away by the waters of the swollen river, regardless of his pals’ makes an attempt to avoid wasting him, she stated.

Shubham was part of a gaggle that had gone to immerse the idol, the officer stated.

His physique, which was recovered by the State Catastrophe Response Pressure (SDRF), was discovered by police personnel, after two hours of search, from beneath a bridge close to the Raipur stadium, which is about eight kilometres from the place he had fallen into the river, Ms Tyagi stated.

Shubham was an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Dehradun’s Clement City.
